It’s the movie fans around the world have been waiting for, but it looks like it wasn’t all parties in Issa Rae’s world while filming the movie as she opens up about a ‘terrifying’ scene she had to film. The star, who’s playing the role of President Barbie in the movie, joked she had the ‘worst day of her life’ filming one scary scene.
The cast has been traveling around the globe attending premieres of the movie, and they’ve been serving looks with a capital L. Issa even sported two looks at the London Barbie premiere, because, why wear one dress when you can have two? We take a look at the celebrity’s looks, as well as her ‘terrifying’ scene.
Issa Rae on filming ‘terrifying’ Barbie scene
It looks like Barbie wasn’t all pink and perky on set for Issa when she realized she had a ‘terrifying’ dance number waiting for her on set.
“When I read that there were dance numbers in the script, I was like, ‘Oh, this doesn’t have anything to do with me,’ and then my first day on set was the dance sequence,” the star told E! News.
She then revealed she had to learn it all in one day and told the audience: “You’re going to get the best cuts.”
“It was terrifying, it was the worst day of my life,” Issa joked. “But I’m glad that it worked out.”
However, as all good costars do, Micheal Cera, who plays Alan, assured the movie star it didn’t look like she was having a bad time.
While Issa thanked him, she also revealed to E! that she cried after the scene, but director Greta Gerwig also said President Barbie “crushed” her solo.
Speaking to the outlet on the big reveal to Issa, the director said: “Because of scheduling, we had been rehearsing the dance for a long time, but I was like, ‘Well, President Barbie needs a solo,’ and she was like, ‘Okay, when am I going to learn it?’ And I was like, ‘Right now!'”
The new mom of two called Issa “amazing” despite her hesitation.

President Barbie had two premiere looks
The ‘life in plastic’ gang are currently traveling around the globe on their world premiere of the highly anticipated movie, and Issa has been stunning everywhere she goes.
At the London premiere, the 38-year-old sported two looks, first she stunned in a hot pink mini dress before changing into a patterned green and pink number.
Fans rushed to compliment the star’s look on social media, and rightly so.
“Everything about this look is pure perfection,” penned one fan.
“She looks bomb, per usual! I love this dress!” exclaimed another.
Issa Rae speaks on the Barbie v Oppenheimer ‘rivalry’
Some may call the box office feud of Barbie and Oppenheimer the rivalry of the century, but all is well and good now as the President has spoken out, and she actually thinks it’s hilarious.
“I love that there’s solidarity though, where people are trying to pit us against one another, but now it’s turned into like a double feature situation,” she said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
She then told Hollywood fans they should see Oppenheimer first, and then cleanse their pallet with Barbie after. We guess we have to abide by the president’s rules!
